Horrible Washer

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I only gave it 1 star because 0 stars is not an option. Had the washer for a little over three years until it broke down and would not. Oil was leaking out of the bottom. I never had any luck with it getting the clothes clean as my previous washer did which was a Maytag that I had for over 20 years.

I bought this washer in 2011. A good, dependable unit which uses less water and saves money. Also, bought a matching dryer to go with it. Maytag Dependability...

I have been using this washer for just over a month now and wasn't sure what to expect as this is my first HE washing machine. So far, I really love it and have no complaints. I went with the top load because that's what I was used to. The machine is very quiet and the interior capacity is quite large. I have already washed my queen size comforter without issue. I also chose Maytag because of it's long standing industry reputation.

Seems Cheaply Built

Overall it washes the clothes, it washes them pretty well. It makes a constant ticking whenever the tub is turning which is especially annoying when it's on the spin cycle. The switches in the panel feel cheaply built, but we haven't had a problem with the so far. I like the top load as we haven't had to clean/de-odorize it at all like the front loader gaskets. In general I don't think any appliance is built like it should be anymore. I don't expect to buy a new major appliance every 5 years, but from what I observe that is what I will be doing.

Slow Wash time

Purchased this unit about a month ago. It has an extremely long wash, rinse, and spin dry cycle. My average wash time is 75 minutes. Hardly like the old unit I had used for 16 years. It does however get my clothes clean and very dry, so I am happy with that aspect of the machine. It seems odd to me that with everything being advertised as fast or the fastest, ovens, cookers etc, that things would get so slow in the wash machine department.
